Manor Vail Lodge will re-open this Friday, Nov. 21, launching the 2008-2009 ski season with completion of an 18-month-long major update and renovation.
The enhancements, representing an investment of more than 0 million, include the addition of a penthouse floor, underground parking, pools, hot tubs, and walkways, along with a fully re-constructed wood and stone exterior.
The new 50,000-square-foot penthouse floor features 17 large, luxury condominiums ranging in size from two to five bedrooms. Each penthouse features elevator access to the front door, and views of the Gore Range and the Vail ski area.
The new units, for sale to individual owners, are in addition to hotel room and condominium units available for vacation rental directly through Manor Vail.
The penthouse floor’s design allowed for construction of the new units over the existing structure, yet does not interfere with views and ambience, according to Leanna Roberts, assistant general manager of Manor Vail. East West Partners of Avon, Colo., served as developer of the penthouse floor, with GE Johnson Construction Company, Inc. (Colorado Springs) as general contractor and Zehren and Associates of Avon as architects.
New underground parking features 136 parking spaces in a heated, 56,000-square-foot area. The space, heated in winter, is garden-covered in warmer months. Other enhancements include a new 33,000-gallon swimming pool and four hot tubs, and radiant slab heating to melt snow and ice on all pool decks and walkways.
As one of the first resort condominiums in Vail Village, built in 1964, Manor Vail Lodge occupies a premier location at the base of Golden Peak. With access to the Riva Bahn, Golden Peak has long been considered the quickest access point to the top of the one of the best ski mountains in the country.
