The Econoburn wood gasification boiler will be a featured product at several upcoming trade shows focusing on green technology and energy efficiency.

“We are planning for a busy six weeks as we introduce the Econoburn to a wide variety of new audiences throughout the Northeast,” said Mark Odell, vice president of marketing for Alternative Fuel Boilers LLC, the product’s manufacturer. “These shows focus on what consumers want and what we make: high-energy, low-emission thermal heating appliances.”

Although used extensively in Europe since the 1950s, introduction of wood-fired gasification boilers in North America is more recent, according to Odell who noted the Econoburn is “basically a carbon neutral heat plant that emits a very low level of ‘greenhouse’ gases as compared to traditional outdoor wood burners.”

As the wood is burned in the firebox of a gasification boiler, fresh air is blown downwards through the logs and coals. The hot smoke and air mixture is forced into the combustion chamber and mixed with a second jet of super-heated air that results in a torch like combustion of the retained gases.

“Almost all the gases are burned, with little residual soot or creosote, and the extra energy is transferred to the Econoburn’s heat exchanger,” Odell explained.

Northern Vermont

The first event at which the Econoburn will appear during the upcoming tour is the 2009 Vermont Home and Garden Show, www.vthomeandgardenshow.com, scheduled for April 17-19 at the Champlain Valley Expo Center and Fairgrounds in Essex Junction, VT.

Presented by the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Northern Vermont, the show promotes “the latest innovations in products and services designed to help make the most” of indoor and outdoor living spaces.

Hudson Valley, New York

The week after the Vermont show, the Econoburn will be on display at the Hudson Valley Green Fair, www.hudsonvalleygreenfair.com, at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, NY.

The April 25-26 Fair bills itself as “The Life-Altering Green Event” and a “premier venue for showcasing businesses who offer better choices … cutting-edge professionals … a full spectrum of the latest products and services that provide smarter “Green” alternatives.”

Canton, New York
The same weekend the Hudson Valley show is underway, the Econoburn will be exhibited at the 2009 Sustainable Energy Fair, www.ncenergy.org, in Canton, NY.

Held at the State University of New York at Canton’s Miller Center, the event is organized by the non-profit group, Community Energy Services, in conjunction with the SUNY Canton Alternative and Renewable Energy Program.
The Fair promotes energy efficiency and conservation, use of renewable energy and changing lifestyles through the use of new technology “to dramatically reduce energy and fossil fuel consumption, improve lives and reduce impacts on the environment.”
Bangor, Maine

On Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, the Econoburn will make its debut at the 2009 Northeastern Forest Products Equipment Expo, www.nefpexpo.net, at the Bangor Auditorium and Civic Center.

Sponsored by the Northeastern Loggers’ Association, Inc., Expo 2009 officials say they expect a record number of exhibiting companies and attendees for this year’s event.

Utica, New York

The Econoburn will be on exhibit at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY for the national Radiant Panel Association’s 2009 Annual Conference, www.radiantpanelassociation.org, on May 29-30.

The organization promotes itself and its annual event as “providing a clearinghouse of experience, ideas, and information on radiant heating.”

Econoburn boilers for residential use are manufactured with ratings of 100, 150 and 200 BTUs and are compatible with radiant, forced air or traditional hot water boiler heating systems.

“This is an exciting time for our product,” Odell said, noting that the company’s U.S. and Canadian dealer network is rapidly expanding the Econoburn’s availability across both nations.
“The more people who become aware of our product, who appreciate that it is made right here in Upstate New York, and who learn about the high energy and low emissions it offers, the greater the demand becomes.”

The company’s customer support service provides pre-purchase consultations on appropriate boiler sizing, system integration, accessory applications and other specialized design requirements on the company’s website, www.alternativefuelboilers.com, or through its toll-free telephone number: 866-818-5162.
